Airfreight demand remains strong as AI shipments drive global growth

When people think about freight forwarding, sea freight often comes to mind first. But airfreight continues to play a vital role in global supply chains, and demand shows no signs of slowing.

According to the latest market data from Xeneta, global air cargo demand grew by 7% in June compared to the same time last year. One of the biggest drivers is the rapid growth in artificial intelligence (AI), with increasing shipments of semiconductors and high-value technology products moving by air.

Interestingly, while demand remains strong, airfreight rates are beginning to ease. Spot rates are still well above last year's levels, but the market has started to stabilise following the easing of conflict in the Middle East, the return of capacity through major Gulf hubs, and lower jet fuel prices.

The result is a market that's proving remarkably resilient. Even as e-commerce volumes soften, AI-related cargo is helping keep aircraft full, particularly on routes between Asia and North America.

For businesses, this is a timely reminder that airfreight isn't just for urgent shipments. It can also be the right solution for high-value goods, time-sensitive cargo, replacement parts, product launches and inventory that simply can't afford to wait for an ocean voyage.

At End to End Logistics, we arrange both international airfreight and sea freight, giving our customers the flexibility to choose the transport solution that best suits their timeframe, budget and cargo requirements.

Whether you need a single urgent shipment or ongoing freight support, we're here to help find the most efficient way to move your goods.
