Fremantle Port Preparing for Potential Weather-Related Disruptions

Fremantle Ports has issued Shipping Agents' Memo 10-2026 advising that an adverse weather event is forecast to impact the port between 26 and 28 June 2026.

As part of standard safety procedures, preparations are underway to protect vessels, port infrastructure and terminal operations should weather conditions deteriorate.

Current contingency plans may include:

  • Evacuation of vessels from berths

  • Ships being directed to designated anchorages or out to sea

  • Vessels currently at inner and outer anchorages being required to heave anchor and depart

  • Berthing operations being suspended until weather conditions improve, with operations currently expected to resume no earlier than Sunday, subject to conditions

These precautionary measures are expected to result in disruptions to normal port operations, with delays to vessel arrivals and departures, changes to berthing schedules, and potential impacts on cargo availability and landside transport.

The weather event follows two previous port closures earlier this month, meaning some shipping schedules were already under pressure before this latest disruption.

One service already affected is the Daphne 625S/626N, with its estimated arrival into Fremantle revised to 29 June and departure to 2 July.

As weather conditions continue to develop, further schedule changes remain possible. Importers and exporters with cargo moving through Fremantle should expect some delays over the coming days while port operations return to normal.
