Recently, Amanda Bradfield appeared on local Perth radio with Milsy and Carl, following chatter on the Rumour File about rising global shipping charges.

The discussion quickly turned to what’s actually happening in the Gulf region.

Safety concerns around the Gulf area is making it increasingly difficult for vessels to operate. Shipowners are facing tough decisions between protecting assets, ensuring crew safety and keeping cargo moving.

For cargo already in transit, including shipments from Australia, vessels bound for ports that are impossible to call, are now being diverted. Many are attempting to discharge at smaller regional ports, which are struggling to handle the surge in volume, resulting in congestion and delays.

Increased costs, longer transit times, and less certainty across supply chains.

There is a lot happening in global shipping right now, and this is just one example of how quickly conditions can change.
